Fog Lamp Sensor


For several years now, a rear fog lamp has been mandatory for trailers and caravans in order to improve visibility under foggy conditions.

When this fog lamp is switched on, the fog lamp of the pulling vehicle must be switched off to avoid irritating reflections. For this purpose, a mechanical switch is now built into the 13-way female connector in order to switch off the fog lamp of the pulling vehicle and switch on the fog lamp of the trailer or caravan. For anyone who uses a 7-way connector, this switching can also be implemented electronically with the aid of the circuit illustrated here.

Here a type P521 optocoupler detects whether the fog lamp of the caravan or trailer is connected. If the fog lamp is switched on in the car, a current flows through the caravan fog lamp via diodes D1 and D2. This causes the LED in the optocoupler to light up, with the result that the phototransistor conducts and energises the relay via transistor T1. The relay switches off the fog lamp of the car.

For anyone who’s not all thumbs, this small circuit can easily be built on a small piece of perforated circuit board and then fitted somewhere close to the rear lamp fitting of the pulling vehicle.

Automatic Emergency Lamp Circuit


 This is an automatic emergency lamp with day light sensing, means it senses darkness/night and turns ON automatically. Similarly it senses day light and turns OFF automatically. A simple emergency lamp which does not require any special equipment; even a multimeter to assemble and use. Any individual who can do a good quality soldering must be able to build this circuit successfully.
This can be easily accommodated in the defunct two 6 watt tube National Emergency Lamp or any PL tube type emergency lamp. The difference will be in the working; it will work non stop for more than 8 hours. Deep discharge is taken care by the LED characteristic and over charge protection is taken care by the fixed voltage regulator.This uses a simple 3Pin fixed regulator which has a built in current limiting circuit.

The only required adjustment is the preset which has to be set to ensure the LEDs just light up (it should be left at that position). The 5mm LDR is just mounted on top of the emergency light as shown in the photograph. LDR is used to avoid it lighting up during day time or when the room lights are ON. 2 LEDs are used in series; the dropping resistance is avoided and 2 LEDs light up with current that is required for a single LED,  by which energy is saved to a great extent.

This particular circuit has been kept so simple for people who has limited access to components or in other words this is an emergency light that you can build with minimum components. In addition to circuit diagram, He has shared photographs of the prototype he made in National emergency light and a PCB design.

Solar Lamp using the PR4403


The PR4403 is an enhanced cousin of the PR4402 40 mA LED driver. It has an extra input called LS which can be taken low to  turn the LED on. This makes it very easy  to build an automatic LED lamp using a  rechargeable battery and a solar module. The LS input is connected directly to the solar cell, which allows the module to be  used as a light sensor at the same time as  it charges the battery via a diode. When  darkness falls so does the voltage across  the solar module: when it is below a thresh-old value the PR4403 switches on. During  the day the battery is charged and, with  the LED off, the driver only draws 100 µA.

At night the energy stored in the battery is released into the LED. In contrast to similar designs, here we can make do with a single  1.2 V cell. The PR4403 is available in an SO-8 pack-age with a lead pitch of 1.27 mm. The  other components are a 1N4148 diode (or a Schottky 1N5819) and a 4.7 µH choke. Pin 2 is the LS enable input, connected directly to the solar module. According to the datasheet, it is possible to connect a series resistor at this point (typ. 1.2 M) to increase the effective threshold voltage. The LED will then turn on slightly earlier in the evening before it is not completely  dark. Pins 3 and 6 of the device must be connected together and together form the output of the circuit.

A Bedside Lamp Timer Circuit Diagram


Description 
 The purpose of this circuit is to power a lamp or other appliance for a given time (30 minutes in this case), and then to turn it off. It is useful when reading at bed by night, turning off the bedside lamp automatically in case the reader falls asleep... After turn-on by P1 pushbutton, the LED illuminates for around 25 minutes, but then it starts to blink for two minutes, stops blinking for two minutes and blinks for another two just before switching the lamp off, thus signaling that the on-time is ending. If the user want to prolong the reading, he/she can earn another half-hour of light by pushing on P1. Turning-off the lamp at user's ease is obtained by pushing on P2.

Circuit operation: 

Q1 and Q2 form an ALL-ON ALL-OFF circuit that in the off state draws no significant current. P1 starts the circuit, the relay is turned on and the two ICs are powered. The lamp is powered by the relay switch, and IC2 is reset with a positive voltage at pin 12. IC2 starts oscillating at a frequency set by R4 and C4. With the values shown, pin 3 goes high after around 30 minutes, turning off the circuit via C3. During the c6 minutes preceding turn-off.
The LED does a blinking action by connections of IC1 to pins 1, 2 & 15 of IC2. Blinking frequency is provided by IC2 oscillator at pin 9. The two gates of IC1 are wired in parallel to source more current. If required, a piezo sounder can be connected to pins 1 & 14 of IC1. Obviously, timings can be varied changing C4 and/or R4 values.

Simple Strip LED Lamp Circuit Diagram


Strip LEDs are available in different colours powered by direct current (DC) source. These LEDs are available as surface mount devices with current limiting resistors. Usually there are 300 LEDs in a 5-metre strip. The strip can be cut into pieces so that the bits having three or four LEDs can be used with 12V DC source. The circuit given here uses the strip LEDs to make an automatic white LED lighting source. The circuit is powered by a capacitor power supply connected to AC mains. Capacitor C1 drops the 230V AC, which is further rectified by the bridge rectifier module and is made ripple-free by C2. Zener diode (ZD1) provides 12V DC to the comparator circuit.

Resistor R1 is important in the power supply as it provides discharge path to the voltage stored in capacitor C1 after the circuit is unplugged from mains. The automatic working of the circuit is based on the light-sensing property of the light-dependent resistor (LDR). Operational amplifier CA3140 (IC1) is used as a comparator with two potential dividers in its inverting and non-inverting inputs. LDR1 and resistor R3 form one potential divider that provides a variable voltage at the inverting input pin 2 of IC1. Second potential divider comprises resistors R4 and R5, which provide half of the supply voltage (6V) to the non-inverting pin 3 of IC1. The output of IC1 depends on voltage level at inverting input pin 2 of IC1 as explained below.

In daylight, LDR1 has low resistance and the voltage at inverting input (pin 2) of IC1 is more than that of non-inverting input (pin 3). This makes IC1 output low, which drives transistor T1 into cut-off condition and strip LEDs do not glow. However, at night the light incident on LDR1 is low and its resistance is high. The voltage at inverting input of the comparator decreases, making it lower than the voltage at non-inverting input. This makes IC1 output high. Transistor T1 goes into saturation, thus connecting cathodes of LEDs to ground. All the LEDs in the strip turn on and remain that way till morning.

Assemble the circuit on a general-purpose PCB and enclose it in a suitable shock-proof case. Strip LEDs are available in ribbon-shaped form. Use 5cm bits (two bits) having three LEDs each. The strip can be cut at supply-contact points. Strip LEDs are arranged on a flexible belt with double-sided adhesive on the back side, so it can be glued to any surface. Connect the LED strip in the circuit with correct polarity. EFY note. Since the circuit uses 230V AC, there is a risk of electrical shock. Do not touch or troubleshoot when the circuit is plugged in. Before connecting the circuit to the power supply section, test it using 12V DC from a battery or DC power supply.

Solar Powered Lamp


This is a very simple Electronic circuit diagram project of solar lamp garden circuit (solar loading) is presented in this schematic circuit. Sunlamps uses solar cells to charge two 600 mAh NiCd accumulator. It charges the battery and light on the LED at dusk, and will be off during daylight.

Light use eight solar cell of 0.45 V, a solar panel which will provide ~ 3.6 V when illuminated. The amount of voltage supplied solar cells must be greater than the battery charge voltage (~ 3.1V, 2.8 V + 0.3 V for Schottky diode). Solar cells will provide about 50mA under the influence of the sun and if it will use some batteries 500mah at least they will not be affected by overload.

Transistor T1 with photoresistor (LDR light dependent resistor) is used for sensing the level of illumination. Solar Cells should be puted in the solar lamp housing so that it can be properly illuminated by sun . The solar lamp illumination can be used to illuminate the court or of places that have access to direct sunlight day.

Emergency Lamp with LDR


This is an LDR based Emergency Lamp that turns on a High watt White LED when there is darkness in the room. It can be used as a simple emergency lamp in the child’s room to avoid the panic situation in the event a sudden power failure.It gives ample light in the room.


The circuit is too simple so that it can be enclosed in a small box. A 12 volt miniature battery is used to power the circuit. Two transistors T1 and T2 are used as electronic switches to turn on / off the white LED. When there is sufficient light in the room, LDR conducts so that the base of the PNP transistor T1becomes high and it remains off. T2 also remains off since its base is grounded. In this state, White LED remains off. When the light falling on the LDR decreases, it cease to conduct and T1 forward bias providing base current to T2. It then turns on and White LED switches on.

White LED used in the circuit is 1 watt High bright Luxeon LED . Since 1 watt White LED consumes around 300 milli ampere current, it is better to switch off the lamp after few minutes to conserve battery power.

Battery Charger Small LED Lamp based Solar Cell Photovoltaic

This is the circuit diagram of rechargable battery charger which use solar cell / photovoltaic as the DC source. This circuit works to charge 3 types of rechargable batteries that are lead acid, Ni-Cd and Li-ion. The lead-acid batteries are generally utilized in emergency lamps and UPS. The photovoltaic module or solar cell explained in this post is capable of producing a power of 5 watts. At full sunlight, the solar cell outputs 16.5V. It can deliver a current of 300-350 mA.

How the circuit works?
The working of the circuit is quite simple. The output of the solar panel is fed via diode 1N5402 (D1), which acts as a polarity guard and protects the solar panel. An ammeter is connected in series between diode D1 and fuse to measure the current flowing during charging of the batteries. As shown in Image #1, we have used an analogue multimeter in 500mA range. Diode D2 is used for protection against reverse polarity in case of wrong connection of the lead-acid battery. When you connect wrong polarity, the fuse will blow up.
For charging a lead-acid battery, shift switch S1 to ‘on’ position and use connector ‘A.’ After you connect the battery, charging starts from the solar panel via diode D1, multimeter and fuse. Note that pulsating DC is the best for charging lead-acid batteries. If you use this circuit for charging a lead-acid battery, replace it with a normal pulsating DC charger once a week. Keep checking the water level of the leadacid battery. Pure DC voltage normally leads to deposition of sulphur on the plates of lead-acid batteries.

For charging Ni-Cd cells, shift switches S1 and S3 to ‘on’ position and use connector ‘B.’ Regulator IC 7806 (IC1) is wired as a constantcurrent source and its output is taken from the middle terminal (normally grounded). Using this circuit, a constant current goes to Ni-Cd cell for charging. A total of four 1.2V cells are used here. Resistor R2 limits the charging current.
For charging Li-ion battery (used in mobile phones), shift switches S1 and S2 to ‘on’ position and use connector ‘C.’ Regulator IC 7805 (IC2) provides 5V for charging the Li-ion battery. Using this circuit, you can charge a 3.6V Li-ion cell very easily. Resistor R3 limits the charging current. Image #2 shows the circuit for a small LED-based lamp. It is simple and lowcost. Six 10mm white LEDs (LED2 through LED7) are used here. Just connect them in parallel and drive directly by a 3.6V DC source. You can use either pencil-type Ni-Cd batteries or rechargeable batteries as the power source.
Assemble the circuit on a general purpose PCB and enclose in a small box. Mount RCA socket on the front panel of the box and wire RCA plug with cable for connecting the battery and LED based lamp to the charger.
With this circuit, you can save on your electricity bills by switching to alternative sources of power.

12 Volt Lamp Dimmer Circuit


Description
Here is a 12 volt / 2 amp lamp dimmer that can be used to dim a standard 25 watt automobile brake or backup bulb by controlling the duty cycle of a astable 555 timer oscillator. When the wiper of the potentiometer is at the uppermost position, the capacitor will charge quickly through both 1K resistors and the diode, producing a short positive interval and long negative interval which dims the lamp to near darkness. When the potentiometer wiper is at the lowermost position, the capacitor will charge through both 1K resistors and the 50K potentiometer and discharge through the lower 1K resistor, producing a long positive interval and short negative interval which brightens the lamp to near full intensity. The duty cycle of the 200 Hz square wave can be varied from approximately 5% to 95%. The two circuits below illustrate connecting the lamp to either the positive or negative side of the supply.

Dimmable White LED Lamp


Nowadays you can buy white LEDs, which emit quite a bit of light. They are so bright that you shouldn’t look directly at them. They are still expensive, but that is bound to change. You can make a very good solid-state pocket torch using a few of these white LEDs.

 The 12V DC input voltage is routed through the 1A fuse and the on/off switch. The 1N4001 diode acts as a crowbar device. If reverse polarity is applied, the fuse will blow and the rest of the circuitry will be protected. Power is sent to the LM2941CT voltage regulator IC. The regulator is wired to produce a voltage range from 5.5V (dim) to 8.3V (bright). 

The 4.7K resistor across the 1K brightness adjustment potentiometer produces a non-linear brightness adjustment to compensate for the eye's logarithmic brightness perception response. The LEDs are organized in six series groups of three with a 24 ohm current limiting resistor on each group. This arrangement limits the maximum current through each LED group to around 20mA.

Connect the DC input terminals to a 12V source, such as a 12V lead acid battery. Be sure to observe the correct polarity. Turn the power switch on and adjust the brightness adjustment for the desired brightness.

The Japanese company unveiled Union Tool LED lamp with a built 24 GHz millimeter wave radar, which was developed by a division of the system LSI Corporation Panasonic. The technology, called Laser Light, illuminates the room as a standard bulb while tracking everything that happens in the room.

Miniature radar, built-in Laser Light, captures objects in front of him at a distance of up to 8 m. The viewing angle is 160 °. Thus, the lamp attached to the ceiling at a height of 3 m from the floor, covering his "look" space equal in size to eight tatami (about 13.2 square meters). It can track the movements of several people in sight, and record unusual situations (for example, if someone tripped and fell).

Radar Panasonic consists of a receiver and transmitter integrated into a single CMOS chip. The device can be operated in continuous wave mode with frequency modulation, very accurately measure the distance to a given object. With this lamp Laser Light has a number of interesting possibilities. For example, being on the ceiling above the bed, it can capture the rhythm of breathing or sleep lying on her person.

Sales of Laser Light will begin in September 2015 the main buyers of the product may make hospitals and nursing homes. Already in the first year, the company expects to bring the Union Tool sales Laser Light fixtures up to 300 million yen ($ 2.6 million).
